Happy Sunday Whats New:
GREETINGS LOVELY PEOPLE: My oldest granddaughter turned 20 last Tues. It seems just the other day she was preteen and just last week she was born. We are very proud of her. This was her second year of college... on an academic scholarship. She is so full of life and living it to the fullest.******* She is not a cake eater so I made a peach pie for her. AND my famous ( or infamous ) lasagna. Big No No for me so I will have something else. I hope the weather clears up today. Overcast but not cold. *** *** Our little town celebrates the founding father by having a street fair each year. I went down for a while yesterday then back again in the PM with Mom. It was fun to see all the people and goings on.... Millie

Good morning Jan & all. I love the taste watermelon but it doesn't like me(gives me heartburn & belching) for hours so I avoid it. Honeydew or canteloupe don't do that though..hmmm.. anyway, we have had so much rain that the weeds in my gardens are starting to get as big as the plants, since it will be cooler today I plan on weeding all day, good therapy too...metally and physically. hope you all have a geat day. Paulette
hello jan and OFF!
i love watermelon ! i'll splurge on the sugar aspect to have the cleansing effect sometimes....i do prefer cantalope tho ....
my daughter's party was a hoot! it was the first time we had been to her place--her bf grew up in the house (so it's really HIS place but he lets her show it off!)and his mother recently gave him 5.5 acres and the house- she split off 2 acres and built herself a new house- she is interesting-robyn feels she is possessive and bossy and butts in but i think she is just doting and of a different generation. robyn had better grow to accept her if she expects to continue life with jamie (the bf)--we really like jamie and he is a keeper i feel. she (jamie's mom june) seemed to just be a nice small town gal-seemed very uncomfortable with robyn's dad and stepmom's crude ways tho--and she pegged it that i wasn't that way-thank goodness!
anyhow- the house is darling-was once a school but is now kinda storybook (kindof hobbit like) with lil nooks and crannies and cute doors etc- only bad thing is only bathroom is upstars and the steps are killers! too steep and too few! one trip up to tour the house and one to potty -then stopped at a gas station on the way home ifyaknowwhatimean!
thank goodness they have a huge garage cuz we got a wild storm-hard hard rain-harder than i have seen in years and hail and winds- we were actually under tornado watch for a bit with a funnel spotted in that town- ouch! so my 11 yr old granddaughter calls to tell me this and she was scared-her nonnie(me) and grampy (robyn's dad my ex) and michael and danny(ex)'s mary and her aunty robyn are all in this garage together and she (amber ) is sure we are gonna blow away and never be found again! how do you reasure an 11 yr old who has just come back from a car trip to florida where her mommy's g'ma is dying???? ok--so storm passes and we were all ok...didn't get to see amber cuz of the storm but it is ok....
jamie was a great host and cooked and served us and we chatted with some of robyn's friends from work -as well as i caught up with danny and mary and danny's brother stan....always good to catch up so i know what their crude side of the story is--we do get along-just only in short time frames- we were there about 4.5 hours when we decided to hit teh road -the drive home(into blinding sun!) was about 1.5 hours and we were home by 9 on bed by 10....almost no rain here but had a power outage cuz the micro and the computer told me so!
i got to try one of those beers with the lime- a budlite version-wa stasty and satisfied my curiosity-won't be spending my bucks on them! ate a grilled cheeseburger with no bun and some cucumber pieces and a few carrot sticks-was satisfied//sipped on crystal lite tea the rest of the time.
so- this morning i have spent some time online looking for old schools in that area and cannot find any history-cuz we don't know what the name of the school was....it's the genealogy thing ya know!
michael is finally up and i think we are gooing to have breakfast on the front deck..sun feels good this morning...
not sure what else the day will hold- washing clothes so i have some tops and undies too for the week....
hugs and prayers to all.....
Good Sunday morning to everyone. I hope that today is good for everyone and you are all blooming where God has planted you for today.
Yesterday I ended up going to some garage sales. I got some nice things. I got a bathrobe that is like new for $1 and it fits~hooray for me!! I got Bill 3 pairs of jeans for .75 each, so since he needed them to wear around the house it works. I got my great neice a new, with the tags on Hannah Montana shirt for $2.50. I know that was a lot but I couldn't resist it since she is so into old Hannah! Maybe I should say young Hannah. lol
I guess I did something to my back when I was walking the Relay for Life yesterday. It is hurting so badly right in the sacroilyac (sp) and my sciatic nerve is killing me. I know that Ella told me that the track was hurting her knee too so it must be what was causing it. The side of my upper leg is hurting so bad that it feels like I could do a sciatic nerve transplant if I could. It has a numb and burning pain and it feels like someone has a hot iron sitting on it. It is driving me nuts. Today is going to be a home day with just getting along here and doing bits and peices. I think that heating pad is going to be my friend today too.
Bill went night fishing with his nephew last night. They like doing that. He got home late and I was asleep I guess. I know that I was watching television and then he got home and woke me up. I guess I was changing the channel because I had the remote in my hand changing the channel and I tired to talk to Bill but I thin****pt falling asleep. Don't ask me what happened because I have no idea. I don't even remember Bill getting into bed or the television being turned off either. lol I guess I was really tired.
Bill is going to cook out on the grill today. I am not sure wha the is fixing and as far as I am concerned I don't care either. It is up to him and he can do what ever he wants to do. lol Dinner is up to him today. This should prove to be interesting. lol
I guess I should get going. I have been going on about nothing and so I am bidding you all a fond bye bye for now. I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers are going up. Special prayers are being said for those in need.
Hi Jan and all my OFF friends,
I'll be leaving in a little while to hit the craft stores and Costco to get my frozen blueberries and gas (around $4.29 pg around here). My girlfriend and I tried to start a Red Hats Chapter with all the ladies who we bonded with while our sons were in boy scouts ~ all those fundraisers made us very close. But it kind of stalled because my girlfriend hit a rough patch in her life (Hi bff) and I didn't have time because of school. I've finished school and my bff is feeling much better so we are going to give it another try. We are going to start with a gathering at my house so I'm going to get stuff together for a Red Hat goodie bag. We've already got some ideas for future gtg's that will be fun.
One of our big strapping young nephews is coming over today to help Bill with some major yard clean-up. Bill got his knee replacement date of July 28th. Yay! He can't do much of anything without his knee working.
I woke up and laid in bed watching the Robins all over the cherry tree out my window on my side of the bed. Then I got up to see when Bill said we had two wild Turkey hens walking through the yard pecking.
We'll I'm going to put some lunch together before I go. Have a nice Sunday all.
Bev
Hi Jan and OFF friends:
It started out so bright and sunny today but it has clouded up and started to rain and gotten very cool. I had opened the windows to let in the breeze, but while I was on the phone with my brother, I had to close some of them because the rain was coming in and it got so chilly in here.
Last night was one of the easiest and most boring Saturday nights I have ever worked. I was supposed to help the Region copy editor ... she gave me two little pages to work, they took me about a half hour to fill. Then Darin, our night editor, was going to give this other copy editor, John, the wire page to fill. I told Darin that John basically can't do more than one page and some proofing at night (John works in features ... they don't really have deadlines). But I did that in an e-mail so I didn't hurt John's feelings ... he's a nice guy, in his 60s, but really, really slow at doing pages. A lot of the features copy editors are for some reason (just here ... I'm sure that's not true everywhere ... and not true of Kim, my night coworker who used to work in features). So I was really bored for a long time with nothing to do other than this one wire page (national/world news) and some proofing. I had time to read, surf, eat dinner, etc. And I got paid time and a half! Better than a part-time job!
Today it's just lounging at home and doing laundry, litter boxes, etc. Already talked to mom, my brother Gary; told Gary about my problem with the condo association ... he also wondered where the statements had gone. I was surprised that he didn't blame me for that one ... I thought he was going to think I was stupid for not paying my bills, which is why I hadn't told him (or my mom, for that matter) earlier. I just didn't want a lecture. The only lecture I got from my mom was about going on cruises ... she said she didn't want me going on cruises anymore for awhile. Well, I hadn't planned on going on anymore for awhile.
Also got an e-mail from a high school friend, Phyllis. She lives in Florida now and I saw her in January 2007 when Carla and I were in Fort Lauderdale ... she lives near there. She's coming up to Chicago at the end of July ... I may make plans to visit down there to get together with her. Her mother has rectal cancer and needs surgery. It's funny, but of all the high school friends that I've regained contact with recently, Phyllis is the one that I actually feel a connection to again. We have a lot of common views and interests. She said she would like to go to a White Sox game while in town and would buy me the ticket, too. How nice. I have found so many people have been so nice to me recently ... don't know what I've done to deserve it, but I should continue to do it! I feel really blessed to have so many wonderful friends.
I'm going to make an old favorite recipe for dinner ... Waikiki meat balls ... it's a Betty Crocker cookbook recipe that I used to make in college and was a favorite of mine. I haven't made it for awhile. It's basically sweet and sour meat balls, with pineapple and green peppers. I was describing it to my coworker Kim, and she had never heard of it, so I told her I'd bring some in to her on Monday for dinner. It makes a lot, and I won't be able to eat it all anyway. And Kim usually doesn't eat very well at night ... her dinner usually consists of a candy bar and a bag of chips. (And yes, she's very skinny!)
Well, I'm not very happy with the Sox-Cubs series ... my Sox better play a little better tonight or I'm going to be disappointed in them. Last year they did the same thing ... stunk it up in the crosstown series and their whole season went down the tubes. Hope the same thing doesn't happen again this year.
Have a good rest of the weekend.
